Continent 8 Consulting was founded in 1998, in Montreal. They then rebranded to Continent 8 Technologies and moved operations to the Isle of Mann in 2006. Five years later, the company expanded its reach further, opening data centers in Malta and Gibraltar.
The 2010s was another period of rapid expansion for Continent 8 as it opened new data centers in Dublin, New York, Guernsey, London, Lisbon and Taiwan. 2017 saw them gain a truly global outreach, spreading to the Americas and the Far East. It opened Post Office Protocols in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
In the late 2010s, Continent 8 pivoted to helping start-up tech companies in its role as a premium supplier. They joined forces with Founded in 2019, on a unified mission to connect enterprising businesses and ambitious entrepreneurs with a support system to elevate their business to the next level.
This resulted in the launch of the Isle of Man (IOM) Chapter of Startup Grind, a global community that forms the backbone of Founded. This is part of Continent 8’s broader strategy to build global brand alliances.
In the 2020s the company is now eyeing the South American market, with three locations already established: in Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina. CEO Michael Tobin also spoke recently of plans to spread to the nascent Brazilian gaming market.
